There are differences in long term needle holding ability, Fraser Fir can be harvested in October and still hold its needles. Balsam Fir are also good performers in the home. Balsam fir grows well on our soils, making it our principal crop. All Christmas trees at Will Farms are grown on the farm and guaranteed fresh.

What is the best time to get our Christmas Tree?

  • Harvest your own: Must be done in daylight! Arrive by 4:30 pm.
  • Fresh Cut: Come any time we are open. Evening is magic! Trees are individually displayed in a lighted area next to the parking lot.
  • Busy Times: Christmas tree farms are always busiest during the first two weekends in December, especially the 2nd weekend. Busiest time of day 10:30-3:30.
  • Larger Christmas Trees: It is best to come towards the end of November if you would like a good choice in 8-10ft Christmas tree sizes. The 7ft size is recommended for a room with standard 8ft ceilings. This size is always in good supply, usually until the end of the season.
  • Church-size Christmas trees: Our largest trees to 16 feet are grown separately. We recommend a visit to the farm in early November to tag the tree of your choice. Harvest your own only and not on the first two weekends in December.

When can we put up the Christmas Tree?

  • A Christmas tree, whether harvested by you or chosen from our fresh cut selection, will be totally fresh. Look after it Tree Care and you can put it up immediately. if you like, you can keep a tree dormant in water in a cool outdoor spot and bring it in when you are ready to decorate.

Do you sell Christmas Tree Stands?

  • Do not buy a stand until you have seen ours! Carried only by Christmas tree sellers who are in for the long term, the Yule stand is simple, durable, convenient and not expensive. For Church-size trees you should have your own custom made tree stand.

Do we need to bring a saw?

  • Choosing your own Christmas tree in the harvest field involves cutting it. If you own a wood saw bring it along, especially on weekends. If you do not have one, we will lend you a 20" bow saw, or you can choose from our selection of pre-cut fresh Christmas Trees. No chainsaws or axes please!

Do you have rides?

  • In years when harvest fields are more distant from the parking lot, no-charge transportation for you and your tree is available, continuously on weekends, at intervals on weekdays. During evening hours "Sky Watchers" and "Christmas Magic" family rides are available. For 2008, harvest fields are within easy walking distance.
